Publication Settings

By default, all users that have enabled a publication can send to all recipients they have selected. This means recipients may receive duplicate copies of an issue if multiple users have the same recipients selected.

As a publication owner, to prevent or manage this scenario, you can designate how to handle cases when a contact is selected to receive an issue from more than one sender.

To setup deduplication options on a publication:
  1. Click Publications in the main navigation menu.
  2. Click the Publications Created by You tab.
  3. Click the down arrow icon next to the publication title, and select Deduplication.
  4. Select one of the available options:
    • Select First Sender, and click the Update button.
      or
    • Select Designated Sender(s) or Restricted Sender(s), click the Select Users text link to select the designated sender(s) or restricted sender(s), and click the Update button.

Note the deduplication options available for any given publication are based on the distribution method that was selected at the time the publication was created:
  • First Sender deduplication option
    • Available for "Sent by User" or "Sent by User upon Approval" distribution method
    • Only the first sender can send to a specific recipient
    • If other users have any of those recipients also selected, they will be removed from those later users' issues before sending
    • Recipients will only receive at most one version of an issue
  • Designated Sender(s) deduplication option
    • Available for "Sent Automatically" or "Sent Immediately" distribution method
    • Only the designated sender(s) can send to their selected recipients
    • If other users have any of those recipients also selected, they will be removed from the non-designated users' issues before sending
    • Recipients would only receive duplicate versions of an issue if multiple designated senders have the same recipients selected, but they would not receive versions from both a designated sender and a regular user
  • Restricted Sender(s) deduplication option
    • Available for "Sent Automatically" or "Sent Immediately" distribution method
    • Reverse of Designated Sender(s)
    • Restricted sender(s) are prevented from sending to recipients selected by other users
    • Recipients may receive duplicate versions of an issue if multiple non-restricted users have the same recipients selected, but they would not receive versions from both a restricted sender and a regular user
