Why are my reporting statistics skewed for a plain text campaign?

All email tracking is done using what are essentially images embedded in the HTML of an email. Plain text format prevents those images from being included or tracked, and thus our system cannot provide reliable view statistics for plain text campaigns.

However, if a recipient that viewed the plain text version of a campaign takes an action (such as clicks a link, downloads a file or opts out), then we know that they opened the email and we record it as an inferred view.
