What is a custom sending domain? How can I set one up?

The sending domain is displayed in:

  • The web version URL for all campaigns
  • The opt out / preference center URL for all campaigns
  • Survey URLs
  • The from email address on a campaign sent using a system email address (if that setting is turned on)
  • And in the "To" field if a recipient clicks Reply on a campaign sent using a profile email address

A custom sending domain offers the ability to uniquely brand and market your campaigns and surveys in those places, rather than using the default system sending domain (emailcb.com).

A custom sending domain cannot be the same as your existing everyday email domain, but you can setup a sub-domain (e.g. mail.abccompany.com) or an entirely different domain (e.g. abcmail.com) for the purpose of sending emails from CampaignBreeze. A custom sending domain also cannot be the same as your CampaignBreeze login domain (if you use one).

We also recommend avoiding the word "marketing" in a custom sending domain. External corporate junk/spam filters may misinterpret "marketing" as being suspicious and then block or drop the mail (as the sending domain is used in the code for the email header even if it is not shown as the from name). Also it may pose internal conflicts when other departments (e.g. research, finance, etc.) want to send out communications but do not want "marketing" to being a part of the web version or opt out URLs.

To setup a custom sending domain:

  1. Select your desired domain or sub-domain.
  2. The DNS records on the selected domain or sub-domain will need to be configured to point to our servers. Ask your IT department, domain registrar or web hosting provider to setup the domain or sub-domain with the appropriate DNS records using one of the sample requests below (replacing the [italic] text with your own details).
  3. After you have received confirmation that the DNS configuration process is complete, contact our Client Services team so we can finalize the setup within our systems.
