Multilingual Surveys

You can easily setup a multilingual survey to create multiple versions of questions and answers. Responders will be able to select a language when viewing the survey.

To create different survey questions per language:

  1. Go to the Content step of the survey.
  2. Click the Settings tab.
  3. Click the Languages sub-navigation item.
  4. Click the Add Language text link.
  5. If English is not your native language, or will not be the default language that will appear for each question as you setup additional languages, enter a new default language in the field.
  6. Click the Add button.
  7. Enter the first additional language in the next field.
  8. Click the Add Language text link, and enter another language. Repeat this step for as many additional languages as you need to setup. You can also select the ISO code* for your languages by clicking on the ISO code drop down menu.
  9. Click the Questions tab. You will see a "Language" indicator in the upper right where you can click other languages to view and edit the different versions of your survey.

To setup different buttons per language:

  1. Click the Settings tab.
  2. Click the Buttons sub-navigation item.
  3. Select the "Allow buttons to be edited on each page" option.
  4. Click the Questions tab. You will now see the buttons at the bottom of the page, which you will be able to modify as you switch between languages.

To setup different headers and footers per language:

  1. Drag a content block to the top of the survey to add a content item to hold the header, and do the same for the footer (if desired).
  2. Now you will be able to modify the hearer and/or footer content items as you switch between languages.
*Language ISO Code is used to match the ISO code from the responder's computer to the specified language in your survey and automatically display the survey in that language. If no match is found, the default language will be used and responders can still select a language at anytime during the survey. For example, selecting this option would be helpful in the following scenario: You have setup the French language and its corresponding ISO code in your survey. If a responder's ISO code is set to French in their computer and they view the survey, the survey will automatically be displayed in French.
NOTE: Any survey related error messages (e.g when a question is set to "mandatory" and the respondent submits the survey without answering the question, the error message "This field is required" is displayed) will display in the language that the respondent's web-browser is set to display web-pages in. For example, if a respondent's web-browser is set to display web-pages in French, then the error message will display in French. Creating a survey in multiple languages does not affect this behaviour.
