Why are links to email addresses and telephone numbers not shown in my reports?
Some links, such as links to email addresses (mailto:) and telephone numbers (tel:), are unable to be tracked by our system.
This is because in order for our system to capture a click, specific tracking information is added to each URL. Then when a tracked URL is clicked from your campaign, the tracking information redirects the recipient through our servers before sending them to the final destination. This redirection happens near instantaneously but allows us to record a click.
Because mailto: and tel: links do not redirect to a web page, there is no way for us to add the tracking information to the URL that would allow us to capture a click (the mailto: links go straight to an email address, and the tel: links launch a phone dialer for mobile recipients). This is why mailto: and tel: links do not appear in your reports.
While there are other methods available for capturing these types of clicks in other environments, unfortunately they are not reliable across email clients and are therefore not an option for our system.
