Import Contacts

You can add multiple contacts to the system at one time using the Import Contacts feature. Contacts can be imported from a spreadsheet file in CSV (Comma Separated Values) or XLS (Microsoft Excel) format stored on your computer.

NOTE: If your contacts are not already stored in a spreadsheet file, you will first need to export them from the application they are stored in before they can be uploaded to the system.

To import your contacts from a spreadsheet file:

  1. Click Import Contacts from the Getting Started menu on the home page, or click Contacts in the main navigation menu and then click the "Import Contacts" text link.
  2. Once the window loads, click the Browse button to locate your file.
  3. Select your spreadsheet file, and click the Open button.
  4. If there are multiple worksheets, select the one you wish to import, and click the Next Step button.
  5. Map the fields in the uploaded database to the fields, and click the Next Step button.
  6. Select how to handle duplicate records, and click the Next Step button.
  7. Select or add a group to store the contacts in, and click the Next Step button.
  8. A confirmation page will display with your choices. If everything looks correct, click the Import button.
  9. After the import process is complete, you may optionally export those records that did not successfully process (e.g. invalid email addresses) so that you can review and revise as necessary before importing them again.
