How can I setup automated birthday campaigns?

Before taking the steps outlined below, you will want to have a couple things in place:

  • A group specifically setup for this purpose so that you can add and remove people from the group to control who will receive the automated birthday campaigns
    • If you haven't already, you can import your contacts and map their birthday in mm/dd/yyyy format to the "Birth Date" field, and add them to this group for example called "Birthdays"
  • A sent campaign containing the birthday message that can be duplicated for each message to be sent as a part of the automation

To setup automated birthday campaigns:

  1. Click the Autoresponders link in the "Manage" box on the Home page.
  2. Click the Create an Autoresponder button.
  3. Enter a title for the autoresponder such as "Birthdays", and click the Create button.
    The title will be used for your record-keeping purposes only inside your account and will not be seen by recipients. You can change the title at any time by clicking the down arrow icon for the autoresponder and selecting Rename.
  4. In the Source step, keep the Type as Contacts.
  5. Next to the Contacts option, select the In 0 selected groups option, and then click Select Groups text link to select the "Birthdays" group (or whatever your group is named).
  6. Next to the Date Field option, select "Date of Birth" (or your specific custom date field if a different date should be used).
  7. Next to the Send option, select to send on either the exact date of birth, or a specified number of days before.
  8. Next to the Frequency option, select Anniversary of date. 
  9. Once you have configured the autoresponder, click the Save and Continue to Sequence button.
  10. In the Sequence step, click the Select/Change text link to select the birthday campaign that should be sent to all matching contacts on the anniversary of their birth dates.
  11. Click the Continue to Confirm and Activate button.
    • Confirm the details in the Source Details and Sequence Details sections.
    • Select a time of day from the drop down menu for when the autoresponder will run.
  12. When you are ready to begin using the autoresponder, click the Activate button.
