Video
Unfortunately some email applications do not display video content due to security concerns and will prevent it from appearing in your campaign.
We recommend including a static image on the first page of your campaign and linking it to your video content (similar to how YouTube emails are sent, for example, encouraging the recipient to "Click to play" or "Click to view"). When recipients click the image link, they are taken to their web browser (and outside of their email application) where they can view the video content in the web version of the campaign.
You can either insert your own static image, or you can have it automatically created from your MP4 file if your file is uploaded to the Content Library.
The maximum video file size that can be uploaded is approximately 60 MB (which translates to an .mp4 video file of approximately 10 minutes in length with H264 encoding at 640x360 resolution and stereo sound). For larger video files, the content will need to be hosted on an external website (such as your own web server or another third party video hosting site).
For video files <60MB uploaded to the Content Library
To insert a link to your video from an automatically generated static image of the first frame:
- Go to the content step of an in progress campaign, and position your cursor where you would like the video to appear.
- Click the Insert/Edit Image icon in the editing toolbar, and click the Use text link next to the video file.
- A still image of the first frame will display with a play button overlay. When recipients click the image, they will be taken to the web version of the campaign where the video will play.
To insert a link to your video from your own static image:
- Go to the content step of an in progress campaign, and position your cursor where you would like the video to appear.
- Click the Insert/Edit Image icon in the editing toolbar.
- Click the Add Images and Files button to upload the video file and the static image to the Content Library. The static image should include a play button, "Click to play" text, or some other call to action encouraging the recipients to click; or alternatively you can select to include our play button overlay in step 5 below.
- Click the drop down arrow icon next to the video file in the Content Library, and select Change Placeholder.
- Optionally choose to include our play button overlay.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Use text link on the image you want to set as the static image to display in the campaign content. Note the image will be resized to the dimensions of the video file.
- Click the Use text link on the video file, which should now show the newly selected placeholder image, to insert the video into the campaign. When recipients click the image, they will be taken to the web version of the campaign where the video will play.
For video files >60MB hosted on an external website
To insert a link to your video from your own static image:
- Go to the content step of an in progress campaign, and position your cursor where you would like the video to appear.
- Click the Insert/Edit Image icon in the editing toolbar.
- Click the Add Images and Files button to upload the static image to the Content Library. The static image should include a play button, "Click to play" text, or some other call to action encouraging the recipients to click.
- Click the Use text link on the image to insert into your campaign content.
- Select the image, and click the Create Link icon in the editing toolbar
