Email format - HTML or Plain Text

You have the option to set the email format of a campaign for individual contacts or for whole groups or domains.

Every time a campaign is sent, it is sent as a multipart message. This means that an HTML version and a plain text version are sent out simultaneously, and each recipient device (desktop computer, PDA, etc.) and their specific settings dictate which version is displayed. This is done to maximize deliverability across the wide range of possible devices and settings.

But you can dictate the email format so that only plain text emails are sent instead. Plain text emails do not contain any images, but the recipient can view the full HTML content by clicking on a link within the plain text content.

Plain text emails are useful in the following situations:

  • Recipients whose mail server or spam filters are blocking or dropping campaigns (plain text emails have a lower risk of being blocked)
  • Recipients using BlackBerriess or older email software that cannot render HTML content properly
  • Recipients who do not want to receive images an email due to slow internet connections
