Link to Outlook meeting or iCalendar (.ics) File
You can easily include a link that allows recipients to download an iCalendar (.ics) file based on specific event details. After downloading the file, recipients will be able to add it to their calendar by accepting.
To insert a link to an iCalendar (.ics) file:
- Go to the Content step of an in progress campaign.
- Click into the editable area, and select the text or image you wish to link. (If no text or image is selected, the title you enter for the event in step #4 will be used as the link.)
- Click the Create Link icon in the editing toolbar, click the Other tab, and select iCalendar.
- Enter a title for the event, location (optional), start date/time, end date/time, and description (optional).
- Click the Create Link to iCalendar button.
You can also include a link to an .ics file in the confirmation message of a poll.
First, you will need to save your Outlook calendar event as an .ics file on your computer by opening the selected appointment, and going to File > Save As.
Next, you will need to obtain the HTML for the link by inserting it into a campaign:
- Click into an editable area in a campaign.
- Click on the Insert File paper clip icon in the editing toolbar.
- Upload the .ics file to your content library.
- Hover over the file and click Use.
- Enter the display text you'd like to use and click Insert Link.
- Click on the HTML icon in the editing toolbar and copy the <a> tag that contains the .ics file.
Then, when you set up your poll, the text field for the confirmation window accepts HTML, so you can just paste the <a> tag you copied in the steps above where you would like it to appear in the confirmation window text.
